Homeowners served by PPL Electric Utilities have another home battery option. Our representative at Sigenergy has informed us that PPL has added Sigenergy to its approved equipment list, which clears the way for PPL customers to interconnect a Sigenergy solar and battery system.
Why the Approved List Matters
PPL publishes an approved smart inverter list for solar and battery systems that connect to its grid. Under PPL's rules for inverter-based systems, the equipment needs to be on that list for the system to be approved for interconnection. If a battery or inverter isn't on it, PPL customers can't use it, no matter how good it is.
Until now, PPL customers interested in Sigenergy had to wait. With Sigenergy approved, they can now choose it alongside the other brands we install.
PPL updates its online list periodically, so the posted version may take some time to reflect the change. We confirm current approval for every project before submitting the interconnection application.
What Makes Sigenergy Different
- Modular battery. SigenStor lets you start with the capacity you need and expand in small steps later, instead of buying a large battery up front.
- All-in-one design. The hybrid inverter, battery, and energy management are designed as a single system.
- EV backup for non-Tesla vehicles. Sigenergy's V2X DC bidirectional charger works with compatible EVs including the Ford F-150 Lightning, bidirectional-capable Mercedes-Benz EQ models, and the Rivian R1T and R1S. Your EV can help power your home during an outage.
Not every manufacturer supports bidirectional charging yet, so we confirm your specific vehicle before recommending a V2X setup.
Is Sigenergy Right for You?
Sigenergy is usually a strong fit if you drive a non-Tesla EV, have EVs from more than one manufacturer, may switch brands later, or want a battery you can grow over time. If you drive a qualifying Tesla Model 3 or Model Y and plan to stay with Tesla, a Powerwall 3 with Tesla Powershare may be simpler. Read our post on Tesla Powershare.
We install both, along with Enphase, FranklinWH, EG4, Sol-Ark, and Fortress, and we'll recommend based on your utility, your loads, your car, and your backup goals.
